The eleven ingredients in depth

The big three by dose

Three ingredients dominate the formula by weight. Green tea extract leads at 154 mg per capsule — the largest single plant component, traditionally valued as part of a balanced diet. Apple cider vinegar follows at 150 mg in powder form, delivering the familiar kitchen staple without the sour taste of the liquid. Berberine HCL contributes 85 mg; berberine is a plant alkaloid from barberry-family plants, and the HCL indicates the hydrochloride salt form used in the capsule. Together these three account for well over half of the active content by weight.

For metabolism and balance

A second group centres on nutrient metabolism. Chromium, at 0.1 mg, is a trace element that contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism. Cinnamon bark extract (20 mg) brings one of the world’s oldest spices into the formula, while banaba leaf extract (5 mg) comes from the leaves of the South-East Asian banaba tree (Lagerstroemia speciosa), traditionally used in its native region. These are modest, clearly labelled doses — part of a blend, not standalone megadoses.

Kitchen classics

Ginger (50 mg) needs little introduction — centuries of culinary and traditional dietary use stand behind it. Cayenne (20 mg) adds the familiar heat of chilli pepper, and bitter orange extract (20 mg, Citrus aurantium) completes the trio. Putting these pantry staples into a capsule is largely a matter of convenience: the dose is fixed, the taste is bypassed, and the routine is one swallow with a meal.

The fine dosers

Two ingredients are present in small amounts. Korean ginseng aerial extract (5 mg) is one of the best-known plants of traditional Asian dietary practice, and resveratrol (1 mg) is a plant compound found in grapes, among other sources. Small doses like these make sense only as part of a combined formula — which is exactly how Trimalyn presents them, with every milligram on the label.

The capsule itself

The eleven ingredients sit in a plant-based HPMC (hypromellose) shell, size 00 — no gelatine. The inactive ingredients are declared too: vegetable capsule size ‘00’ (hypromellose), magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose and silica. If you dislike swallowing capsules, the shell can be opened and the powder stirred into water; note that cayenne and apple cider vinegar give the powder a spicy taste.
